Spring Cleaning Tips from a Top Tampa Realtor

1- Windows and Doors - clean down both inside and outside of both interior and exterior doors.  Clean windows inside and outside and clean out the window tracks.  This is a good time to see if your windows need any caulking for energy savings and to protect from moisture intrusions.  Also, to check that the windows are opening and closing as they should which is a safety concern to have them repaired if necessary.  

2- Kitchen - deep clean cabinets wipe down doors with an approved cabinet/wood cleaner to not damage paint/wood on the doors, clean out the inside of cabinets - pull out everything inside, throw away old/unneeded items and reorganize are you place back in the cleaned cabinets.  Don't forget to wash the baseboards of the lower cabinets - often hidden dirt is found down here from old spills.  Clean appliances - Refrigerator pull out everything and throw away any expired or unneeded food.  Range - use the cleaning feature for over and then do a deep clean on the stove top and when it finishes the cycle.  Dishwashers - clean down interior of dishwasher, products like vinegar can help get rid of any build up water stains.

3- Clean your furniture - deep clean porous material.  Vacuum down couch pillows and chairs - use all those handy vacuum tools to really get into your couch to clean it.  Use leather cleaner wipes on any leather furniture. Your belongings is an extension of you home and when showing you want the areas to be staged nicely with well taken care of furniture.  

4- Lastly tidy up outside!  You want the exterior of your home looking as good as the interior.  Curb appeal really helps sellers maximize their home value.  Update landscaping plants - cut back bushes, add needed mulch, and replace dying plants.  Pressure wash sidewalks, driveways, patios etc.  Make sure you are having routine pest control, but this is a good time to check your exterior for any lingering pests that need to be addressed.  And clean up kid’s toys - keep things organized in garage or bins - toss old and donate any that are in good condition but no longer are played with.
